What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cosmetologist - NO WEEKENDS position at Rouse Estate?
OBJECTIVE
To provide the residents of the Rouse Home with quality hair care services, which meet their individual needs on a regular basis; in compliance with all state laws and the regulations of the Rouse Home.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide hair care services to residents on a regular basis.
2. Maintain effective coordination with Nursing and Social Services to insure that any special needs of residents or family requests are met; coordinate with Social Services regarding any problems with payment for services.
3. Make recommendations to Group Leader for any prescribed treatments which may be necessary; apply non-prescribed treatments as necessary.
4. Maintain records for each resident on services provided.
5. On a daily basis, record all activities and charges of the beauty shop and forward to Finance Dept.; maintain a monthly log of free services rendered.
6. Create and maintain a safe, clean and calm environment in the beauty shop; insure that established safety and infection control standards are enforces in order to maintain quality resident care.
7. Insure successful state inspections of the beauty shop; report completed inspections to the Department Director.
8. Insure license is current and displayed in beauty shop; file copies in the Administration Office.
9. Insure residents' rights, confidentiality, and dignity is maintained.
10. Remain knowledgeable of current state cosmetology laws.
11. Participate in in-service programs, continuing education, and orientation as required.
12. Insure Quality Assistance compliance in all areas of responsibility with departmental audits, as directed by Group Leader or Department Director.
13. Transport residents to / from beauty shop as necessary.

INTERFACE
INTERNAL - Must be open and available to address concerns of residents / families and create / maintain a calm environment and positive atmosphere of warmth and personal interest; must maintain positive interface within all levels of the organization.
EXTERNAL - Must maintain positive interface with the Board of Health, state inspectors, state contracted suppliers, visiting family members, and general public.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION - Must possess a Cosmetology License issued by the state of Pennsylvania.
EXPERIENCE - Prefer one (1) year of previous experience in a beauty shop and preferably working with the elderly.
SKILLS REQUIRED - Must be capable of performing services under difficult circumstances with frequent interruptions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Genuine commitment to residents and interest in gerontology.
- Good hearing, speech, vision, and finger / hand dexterity.
- Must be able to withstand walking and standing throughout the work day.
- Must be able to lift residents, equipment, and supplies.
