Position Title : Food & Beverage Kitchen Equipment Technician

Department : Facilities

Employment Classification : Non-Exempt

Position Summary / General Description :

A Food and Beverage Kitchen Equipment Technician maintains and repairs the Kitchen Equipment and Refrigeration equipment at all LDC properties to ensure proper working in order to meet health and safety standards, as well as create a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment for customers and workers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Manage Kitchen, Refrigeration and Food and Beverage equipment to ensure that it is in the best possible working order.
  • Maintain all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components and identify and repair or replacement of these components.
  • Order new parts and maintaining an emergency replacement parts inventory.
  • Recover or recycle refrigerant in systems.
  • Perform skilled electrical and mechanical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of Kitchen, Food and Beverage and Refrigeration equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels.
  • Install and calibrate systems; install copper tubing and repair pipes and tubing as necessary; test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration systems; descale tubing; rebuild pressure and temperature safety valves and water pumps. Ensure equipment works through its complete cycle.
  • Install, rebuild, replace or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary.
  • Analyze situations and data and take appropriate action.
  • Establish and maintain effective and harmonious relationships with all departments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple work activities simultaneously.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety.
  • Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact and verbally greet guests).

  • Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd and unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
  • Education & Experience :

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Relevant technical school or apprenticeship programs.
  • Must have 10 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial restaurant equipment.
  • Licensing & Certification :

  • Must have a State of New Mexico Journeyman Refrigeration License (JR)
  • Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery :

  • Power lift to perform tasks up to 40 ft.
  • Manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to the HVAC and refrigeration trade.
  • Air Compressors.
  • Welding and soldering tools.
  • Essential Physical Requirements :

  • Requires the ability to balance / climb, bend over, crouch / stoop, drive, hear, reach overhead, stand, talk, walk and repetitive use of hands 51-100% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to crawl, kneel, sit and turn / twist 25-50% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to push / pull 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to carry 1-25 lbs. 51-100 % of the time; 25-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time; and 50 lbs. 1-24% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to lift 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to slide / transfer 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time.
  • Essential Mental Demands :

  • Requires the ability to solve problems, organize, plan and read 51-100% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to make decisions, interpret data and write 25-50% of the time.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • None.
  • Work Environment (inside / outside) :

  • The job is performed indoors and outdoors with frequent exposure to hot / cold temperatures, loud noises and occasional exposure to confined areas and fumes.
  • Other Requirements :

  • Must provide / maintain a valid New Mexico drivers’ license.
  • Must pass a pre-employment alcohol / drug screening.
