The Business Development Representative will be responsible for increasing automotive dealer adoption and utilization of the RouteOne internet-based Credit Application System. The Business Development Representative will also work in conjunction with our field staff to increase dealer awareness. The purpose of this position is to grow revenue and manage account relationships with automotive dealers across Canada. This position will act as the primary RouteOne “in-market” contact point for both finance sources and dealers. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Contact dealerships to promote the utilization of the RouteOne credit application system, communicate incentive programs, gather customer feedback, introduce new features, and train users.
  • Collaborate with field sales staff and assist with their sales efforts.
  • Solicit new business in the non-captive and independent dealer arenas (including via telephone) on an as-needed basis.
  • Build professional relationships with dealer-based customers.
  • Become an expert on dealership financing activities.
  • Create and present cost analysis reports for dealerships.
  • Analyze industry data and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain safety, security, and privacy standards throughout all areas of responsibility. 

Knowledge 

  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Experience working in an automotive dealership environment.
  • Understand customers’ businesses, products, operations, and trends in the auto finance industry. 
  • In-depth knowledge of dealership systems, credit processes, and online products.
  • Understand auto dealer and finance source processes and relationships.
  • Thorough understanding of dealership technology including internet B2B commerce. 

Skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Disciplined, independent worker with professional demeanor. 
  • Ability to multi-task and properly organize workload according to business need.

  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work from home with Internet access.
  • Strong selling and negotiation skills. 

Other Essential Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of sales experience.
  • English fluency is required. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% including overnight stays.
