Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Housing Manager to oversee the operations of our senior residential properties. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in property management and a thorough understanding of housing regulations, including LIHTC, Section 8, and Fair Housing laws. This role requires excellent negotiation skills and the ability to provide crisis intervention when necessary. The Housing Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations while fostering a positive living environment for residents.
Duties
- Manage daily operations of residential properties, ensuring they are well-maintained and compliant with housing regulations.
- Oversee tenant relations, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular inspections of properties to ensure safety and compliance with health standards.
- Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite.
- Implement policies and procedures in accordance with Fair Housing regulations.
- Assist residents in accessing social services and resources as needed, utilizing crisis intervention skills when necessary.
- Negotiate lease agreements and renewals, ensuring favorable terms for both the organization and tenants.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff to address repair requests and property improvements.
- Stay updated on changes in housing laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in property management, particularly within affordable housing sectors such as LIHTC or Section 8.
- Familiarity with property management software, including MINC, Yardi or OneSite.
- Strong understanding of Fair Housing regulations and legal requirements related to housing management.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to mediate disputes effectively.
- Background in social work or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform crisis intervention when needed, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
