Intern

Position Overview
The Intern position is for students who are in school working towards a geology, engineering, or environmental sciences degree, or that recently graduated. The position will initially be for a 90-day period but may be extended and will include a wide range of in-office activities within the environmental consulting business designed to cover a broad spectrum of experiences. Specific scheduling and hours requirements will be coordinated with local management.
 
Position requirements:

• Field courses and data collection experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
• Solid work ethic.
• Ability to multi-task and self-prioritize.
• An interest in learning all aspects of the business of environmental consulting.

 
Essential Duties:

• Support the office project work and collaborate with technical staff to service clients and complete projects.
• Assistance with data analysis and report preparation activities.
• Assistance with projects that involve remediation system operations and maintenance activities.
• Support to teams conducting environmental sampling of soil, soil vapor, indoor air, and groundwater.

Physical Demands/Work Environment Conditions
This position works primarily in the office and occasionally in the field.  When working in the field, works as part of a larger team at exterior project sites (i.e., industrial/brownfield facilities, monitoring wells, treatment systems, construction projects) to perform sample collection, recording of operational/meter parameters, and oversight of subcontractors (e.g., drillers, heavy equipment operators, truckers).  These field activities require the ability to drive to different project sites and physically move around outdoors in various terrains, in adverse weather conditions and occasionally for extended or irregular hours. Conducting work involves the use of hand-held monitoring instruments and tools, as well as water sampling equipment, which requires the ability to routinely lift and carry objects, stand, walk, reach, bend, squat, kneel and twist.  Office work is primarily stationary/sedentary using a computer and keyboard/mouse requiring repetitive hand movements. 

Pay Rate: $21-$22/hour. This pay rate is based on what Roux in good faith believes it might pay at the time of posting for this position and for this geographic location.
