The Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (QEHS) Specialist is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of our established quality & safety programs, to ensure that our facility and products meet applicable regulatory and company standards. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to assess production and operational processes, and the ability to suggest improvements to maintain or enhance quality & safety within the facility.

The Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (QEHS) Specialist is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of our established quality & safety programs, to ensure that our facility and products meet applicable regulatory and company standards. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to assess production and operational processes, and the ability to suggest improvements to maintain or enhance quality & safety within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Compliance Coordinator to ensure adherence to company QEHS standards including those mandated by Cal-OSHA, CUPA, EPA and related regulatory agencies.
- Assist Compliance Coordinator in maintaining ISO 9001 certification including but not limited to performing internal audits, involvement in PAR, CAR, non-conforming work, customer complaints.
- Perform day-to-day QEHS compliance with internal or outsourced trainings, inspections, job hazard analysis, internal policy writing, quality checks, and other related responsibilities.
- Coordinate internal and/or outsourced QC, UN testing, or other relevant assessments of materials. Monitor results, review, approve QC specifications, and generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) as needed.
- Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment.
- Collaborate with Compliance Coordinator & members of the management to minimize quality problems, customer complaints, and safety incidents.
- Ensure accuracy of both physical and electronic records to comply with company standards and QEHS agency regulations.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and identify opportunities for continuous improvement to the QEHS program.
- Ongoing professional development and proactively maintain knowledge of current and emerging federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulatory requirements affecting the company and facility.
- High School diploma is required. A bachelor’s degree in environmental occupational health & safety, Chemistry, Biology, or related field is highly preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience in a QEHS field is required.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, CUPA, CA-DTSC Hazardous waste management, California Fire Code, and Cal-OSHA/OSHA regulations-specifically 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry)
- Experience in an ERP system such as SAP, Proficient in MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong leadership with ability to deliver training, promote QEHS growth and drive employee engagement
- Proactive problem solving and analysis
- Must be a self-starter and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ethical and maintains a high level of confidentiality
- Have attention to detail, organized with strong prioritization and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and must be able to read, write and communicate in the English Language
- Maintains composure and ability of rational decision-making under high-pressure situations
- Ability to adapt and perform efficiently around challenging environments, including noisy settings, high temperatures, and fast-paced production lines
