What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Development and Partnerships position at Rover?
Who we are:
Want to make an impact? Join our pack and come work (and play!) with us.
We believe everyone deserves the unconditional love of a pet—and at Rover, our mission is to make it easier to experience that love. Founded in 2011, the Rover app and website connect dog and cat parents with loving pet sitters and dog walkers in neighborhoods across the US, Canada, and Europe. We empower our community of trusted pet sitters and dog walkers to run their own pet care businesses on Rover with the tools and security of a global company to back them.
Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, we work closely with our teams in Barcelona, San Antonio, Spokane, and remote locations. We’ve got a reputation for being a great place to work, having been named among the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Seattle Business Magazine and Washington’s Best Workplaces in the Puget Sound Business Journal. We're an agile, fast-growing company, and our leadership comes from some of the world's most respected tech companies.
At Rover, our furry coworkers are just as important as our human ones—and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Along with making the joys of pet parenthood more accessible, we’re committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community of pet people—and that starts with our employees.

- Develop and implement a framework for managing and prioritizing inbound business development requests that enables team focus on the highest priority outcomes.
- Lead design and negotiation of complex partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders in legal, finance, corporate development, product, marketing, and the executive team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and analytics partners to understand business cases for investment in partnerships and ensure their prioritization in our roadmaps.
- Directly manage Account Manager supporting existing partnerships.
- Nurture and scale existing partnerships, enhancing the value they deliver to both parties through appropriate connections, brainstorming, and Quarterly Business Review (QBR) delivery
- Effectively communicate business development program progress to internal stakeholders in a way that is straightforward to follow and moves strategic business decisions forward.
Your Qualifications:
- 10 years of business development experience, preferably driving scaled partnerships with ecommerce or online brands.
- Proven ability to collaborate and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including C-level executives
- Able to work with partners to design simple financial models, crisply articulate partner reporting needs, and tell stories using data that drive business decisions forward.
- Demonstrated effectiveness working cross-functionally, across multiple business units to drive business outcomes.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with track record for successfully delivering partnership outcomes that had measurable results on the business
- Preference for working in a performance oriented business environment.
- Strong verbal and written presentation and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 1 year of direct people management strongly preferred
