General Function:
The custodian position is a key role at the YMCA. The primary responsibility is to maintain the facility and grounds to a standard of excellence that the YMCA , our members and community can be proud to be a part of. It is expected that staff can work independently on tasks and when completed or when other issues/items arise, staff are able to transition with ease.
Know How:
Incumbent must be service oriented and communicate effectively with members and staff. He/she must pass YMCA background checks and successfully complete and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to acquire them within 30 days of employment.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the following, but is not limited to: walking, standing, kneeling, climbing, crouching, jumping, heavy lifting 30 lbs., pushing 30 lbs., carrying 30 lbs., and vision. Must be able to work outdoors on occasion.
Job Segments:
- Responsible for dry and wet mopping.
- Responsible for dusting.
- Responsible for trash removal.
- Responsible for vacuuming and general cleaning.
- Responsible for grounds maintenance and outside projects, as directed.
- Prepares set-ups for classes, club meetings and other events, as directed.
- Follows the cleaning chart schedule but is not limited to items on the schedule.
- Makes rounds to inspect building and report any deficiencies to Property Manager.
- Must follow YMCA policies and Code of Conduct.
- Responsible for learning emergency procedures.
