What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Coach - West Cabarrus position at Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA?
GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, the primary function for the Swim Coach is to conduct/teach swim team practices using the National YMCA Aquatic Program Guidelines and to maintain and ensure the safety of the participants at all times.
KNOW HOW
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
• Sixteen years of age
• Communicate responsibly and tactfully to participants and parents, taking into account each individual’s abilities
• Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances
• Know how to design lesson plans and follow guidelines
• Be actively involved with the team and its participants/ parents
• Be punctual and on-time to all coaching events that are mandatory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Sight, Hearing and Speaking
• Standing, Walking, Stooping, Kneeling, Squatting, Climbing, Sitting
• Lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Pulling a minimum of 100 lbs.
• Tolerance to moderate noise levels
• Ability to work long days, multiple days a week
• Dressed in appropriate attire for activity that promotes a high standard of morality
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
• Prepare and follow plans for assigned practices
• Maintain attendance and records for each practice you lead
• Evaluate swimmers for events and give recognition as able
• Dress appropriately for duty
• Maintain teaching equipment
• Keep your team participants safe and know there where bouts at all times
• Know emergency procedures and review them as needed
• Follow all safety rules
• Clock in/clock out as you are scheduled on the Aquatic schedule
• Give equal teaching time to each participant
• Perform assigned work as given by the Aquatic Director or associate head coach
• Work with other coaching staff courteously and be helpful

establish and maintain the highest of quality, work to benefit participants, parents, and the
community at large, are financially profitable and function in accordance with the mission and
