The Radiology Program Director is responsible for the organization, administration, review, development, evaluation and management of the Radiologic Sciences Program and the Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computerized Technology certificates as well.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Direct the Radiologic Sciences Program in accordance with the accreditation standards established by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology(JR CERT).Direct the Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Career Certificate Programs.Plan curricular changes to meet accreditation, College and student needs.Maintain program accreditation through JRCERT.Plan, organize and administrate the daily operation of the program, providing guidance to the clinical coordinator. Maintain open communication lines among all levels of the College.Promote the program in the community and work closely with area Radiologic professionals.Recruit and correspond with prospective students.Assist with the student Radiology Association and the induction into the honor society by appointing faculty or clinical coordinator as advisor. Coordinate the clinical experiences of the students by assisting the Clinical Coordinator in order to arrange clinical placements, secure contracts and send to the dean, guide the clinical coordinator to update and revise clinical courses as necessary for successful accreditation and work collaboratively with the clinical coordinator to approve updates to the courses and forms. Assist the clinical coordinator in updating the evaluation forms as necessary for successful accreditation. Assure that the clinical coordinator has reviewed the clinical sites and assisted clinical instructors in the evaluation of students. Assure that the clinical schedule has been developed by the clinical coordinator. Assure that the students have the availability to complete all procedures necessary for graduation and licensure. Assure that the clinical coordinator and faculty have provided students with all necessary policies, procedures and handbooks. Answer any concerns from students and clinical sites associated with the clinical experience Assure that clinical evaluations of sites have been performed and collected. 15 Assure that clinical evaluations of instructors and clinical coordinator have been performed and collected. Conduct the Radiologic Science Advisory Board committee meetings and assure that all know about the meeting and attend if possible. Plan the Lamda Nu induction with the clinical coordinator and faculty. Collaboratively revise the student handbook with the clinical coordinator and faculty to assure that all the latest requirements are met for accreditation. Assure that classes are scheduled and faculty assigned Work with clinical coordinator and faculty to hire new faculty for the program. Adhere to all departmental guidelines for developing syllabi, handbooks, procedures and policies. Attend division meetingsProvide input into budget development, submit all requisitions in a timely manner to assure payment without interruption for equipment etc Assure that all surveys and evaluations are completed to meet accreditation guidelines Keep license and knowledge current Assure that the application for the program opens and closes on time and is updated as necessary and online. Assure that all documents and applications are electronic and information is collected on a spreadsheet. Assure that website meets accreditation requirements by assessing and updating yearly in May. Assure that the new handbook is updated and available to students prior to starting classes each May. Assure that curricular content is presented in a logical consistent manner appropriate for student learning. Assure that all required books and products are necessary, utilized and updated and economical. This requires the evaluation of current products and assuring that students are being charged an appropriate fee for books and products. Have books required linked to the appropriate courses as per college guidelines (do not have students purchase all books at once in a bundle unless it is saving the students a significant amount of money. Meet with the Dean on a monthly basis for a report on issues, problems and concerns as well as positive comments. Work to expand clinical sites and increase student enrollment if possible. Assure all syllabi are online, easily accessible and follow current template for the division. Provide administrator or secretarial support with the information to write agreement letters and assure that all courses a faculty is teaching are written on one agreement letter for ease of understanding.
