Salary Range—$54,602—$87,364 (commensurate with experience)
Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. The County is currently accepting applications for talented individuals looking for the opportunity to build a career as a Building Inspector. This position enforces compliance with a variety of construction codes and related matters through inspection procedures; performs administrative matters pertaining to code enforcement in the County; and inspects various structures for conformation to building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and fire codes.
If you are eager to learn and progress in all inspections disciplines and be able to advance your career up to level III in all trades, then we are looking for you. Career Development pay increases are awarded upon successful completion of each trade and level—Level I’s = 1.5% pay increase for each trade including fire; Level II’s = 2% pay increase for each trade excluding fire; Level III’s = 2.5% pay increase for each trade excluding fire. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and considerable experience in building, mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing contracting supplemented by community college level courses in blueprint reading, structural design, civil, electrical, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning engineering technology, and a valid driver's license. Must possess or be eligible for and able to obtain North Carolina Standard Level I certifications in all five (5) construction trade areas and Standard Level II certifications in each area of construction to be enforced within established timeframes.
