Salary Range: $49,500 to $54,400 (commensurate with experience)

The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Income Maintenance Caseworker III in Adult Medical programs (Economic Services Division). The position isassigned to the Department of Social Services, an organization seeking to build a service excellence culture that balances quality customer service, positive employee experiences, and good business practices. The position could be outposted to a hospital or medical facility. The primary responsibility of this position is to determine applicant eligibility in Medicaid programs serving individuals residing in a private living setting who are aged, blind, and disabled, individuals requesting skilled nursing assistance at home or skilled nursing facility, or special assistance to help pay the cost of care in adult care facilities. Federal and state guidelines govern eligibility criteria. This position gathers information from applicants through interviews and verification documents, then compares the facts to set criteria to determine eligibility.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Paralegal Technology, Accounting, or a related area and two years of experience as an IM Caseworker; or an associate’s degree in a related area and three years of experience as an IM Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree/Coursework must be from an appropriately accredited institution. This position may be required to take applications in the field and requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for County business.

Requires demonstrated skill in written and verbal communication, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office software, document management software, and case management software programs, specifically NCFAST. Requires critical thinking and interviewing skills. Bilingual applicants are preferred.
