Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. Rowan County is made up of more than 20 departments and nearly 1,250 employees that are committed to providing a wealth of services to County residents and businesses.

The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Librarian I (RPL Reference Librarian). This position is based out of RPL South (China Grove) and participates in a lead librarian duty rotation at RPL West (Cleveland). This position supervises the daily operations and staff of Rowan Public Library’s West Branch in Cleveland and reports to the Branch Operations Manager. This position performs multifaced professional library work; provides personal assistance to users in pursuit of information; plans and conducts branch programs; identifies, initiates and develops community partnership opportunities; determines user needs and assists in developing ways to improve branch services; assists with collection maintenance; and performs related duties as assigned; evening and weekend work required. Must be enthusiastic, customer-driven, solution-focused, and team centered.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Library Science and/or Information Science or equivalent combination of education and experience; ALA accredited Degree preferred. All degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience working with the public in a library and North Carolina Public Library Certification eligibility preferred. Valid driver’s license required.

Starting Salary $49,500 - $54,400 (commensurate with experience) and excellent benefits package available.
