MTSS Coach


Purpose:

The MTSS Coach will facilitate and coordinate small group instruction, and provide classroom co-teach models. These areas include project development, professional development, coaching and best practices for continuous improvement.


This position has two primary responsibilities:

1) Training, coaching, and implementing the MTSS framework.

2) Training, coaching, and implementation of Restorative Practices.


Qualifications


Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License

  • Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License
  • At least 3 years of successful K-12 teaching experience
  • Experience in planning and delivering professional development is beneficial
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
  • Knowledge of Restorative Practices
  • Experience in engaging, building and maintaining relationships with students and staff
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Teacher-led Design Team, the Restorative Committee, and the Individual Problem-Solving Team.
  • Plan and implement appropriate experiences for teachers/teams/departments.
  • Plan and implement professional development experiences for new and returning teachers.
  • Collaborate with all instructional support personnel.
  • Provide on-going coaching support in MTSS, Restorative Practices, and support instructional practices for both behavior and academics.
  • Work with site and district leadership to communicate the goals and professional development plan.
  • Support teachers in documenting interventions and student progress.
  • Assist in organizing resources to provide interventions at different grade levels.
  • Work with educational staff to identify differentiation /intervention strategies.
  • Maintain a compilation of interventions to be used in conjunction with the MTSS process.
  • Use data to help teachers identify and group children who need additional supports.
  • Help teachers develop and implement classroom-based, developmentally appropriate interventions for individual children and groups of children to enhance their acquisition of social/emotional and cognitive skills.
  • Develop and use instructional and behavioral support tools, functional behavior assessment and behavior management plans, effectively.
  • Work with individual students and small groups of students to provide interventions and progress monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of interventions.


Term of Employment:
10 months
