What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician, PSS4 - CREATEs position at Rowan University?
Position
- Initially work with current research teams to learn procedures, material characteristics, and research techniques for laboratory testing of pavement materials.
- Complete daily testing for various projects under the guidance of Senior Lab Manager.
- Upon completion of training period, manage research projects independently. This involves working with sponsor to determine timeline for testing, pricing (you’ll be given a pricing spreadsheet), conducting tests (or directing undergraduate workers to do tests), checking the validity of results, and reporting results.
- Training of undergraduate workers, graduate students, and PhD candidates.
- Assisting project managers with testing to ensure research is completed according to projected timelines.
- Consulting on testing plans and selection of appropriate tests
- Overseeing graduate level and undergraduate level projects to ensure proper procedures are followed and instruments are used correctly.
- Developing and adhering to all quality control procedures for general lab testing.
- Supply inventory and ordering.
- Maintaining/calibrating equipment.
- Ensuring lab safety procedures are followed by all personnel.
- Cleaning/maintaining lab space.
- Required to be able to lift 50lbs or more.
Education Requirement:
- BS in Civil Engineering or Material Science or equivalent.
- One (1) year of professional experience (may substitute a master’s degree, undergraduate work study in a laboratory environment, and/or internships as professional experience).
