Job Summary :
We are seeking a creative and passionate Social Media Content Strategist to join the Division of Communications & Marketing. Reporting to the Associate Director of Social Media, this role focuses on developing and executing innovative strategies that elevate Rowan University’s social media presence.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies tailored to Rowan University’s goals, audience demographics, and brand identity.
Plan and produce high-quality, engaging content across various formats, including photos, videos, graphics, and written posts, optimized for each platform such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Support content calendars in alignment with university initiatives, incorporating key events, student stories, and academic achievements.
Leverage tools like CapCut, Canva, InShot, and Adobe Creative Suite to enhance content quality and storytelling.
Attend on-campus and off-campus events to capture live content, including photography, and videography.
Write concise, impactful short-form content designed to grab attention and drive engagement across social platforms.
Assist in the ideation, planning, and execution of creative campaigns that promote Rowan University’s programs, events, and community initiatives.
Coordinate with university departments and stakeholders to align campaigns with institutional priorities and messaging.
Monitor and evaluate emerging social media trends, platform updates, and audience preferences to identify new opportunities for engagement.
Regularly research competitors and peer institutions to benchmark Rowan University’s social media performance.
Stay ahead of social media trends, platform updates, and emerging technologies to ensure content remains relevant and engaging.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
Proven experience creating and strategizing content for social media (portfolio or examples required).
Proficiency in mobile content creation and editing tools such as CapCut, InShot, and similar apps.
Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with students and cross-departmental teams.
Strong understanding of social media platforms and their algorithms, particularly TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
Exceptional storytelling, photography, videography, and editing skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail, creativity, and organizational skills.
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for event coverage, as needed.
Familiarity with cameras and production equipment is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working in higher education or with Gen Z audiences.
Experience with Sprout Social, or similar Social Media Management platforms is a plus.
