Rowland is a Florida state licensed General and Utility Contractor specializing in water, sewer, and drainage construction and manhole rehabilitation for state and local governments. Honesty, integrity, and hard work are the pillars on which Rowland was founded 36 years ago. Rowland is seeking a dependable Excavator Operator to run the excavator.
Position Title: Excavator Operator
Summary of Job:
The incumbent receives written or oral instructions from Foreman regarding material to move or excavate. Operates machine, on tracks or rubber tires, equipped with movable bucket to excavate or move dirt, rock, sand and other materials or other attachments to handle pipes, fittings, structures etc.
Duties Include:
- The equipment operator will have extensive experience and skills in heavy equipment operations involving mass excavations, backfilling and compacting, working with trench boxes, and pipe laying.
- Can operate around underground utility lines and in close proximity to the crew.
- Works with and assists the pipe crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, grater or front-end loader.
- Has experience with trench boxes and dewatering.
- May be required to occasionally assist others doing normal laborer tasks.
- Follow all health and safety regulations when working and/or operating equipment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment, specifically a track hoe or excavator.
- Ability to safely perform physical duties associated with operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, climbing into and out of, and around heavy equipment.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to work effectively as a team.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (preferred).
