A litigation paralegal plays a crucial role in law firms or legal departments, primarily preparing cases for trial. At Roxell Richards Law Firm, the Litigation Paralegals effectively manages a litigation docket of 60 cases and support attorneys by drafting and managing legal documents, docketing and adhering to deadlines, coordinating trial preparation, and ensuring compliance with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. Your role includes organizing case files, tracking case progress, and assisting in the development of case strategies. You will schedule depositions, hearings, and mediations, while collaborating with attorneys and support staff to advance case objectives. Additionally, you will handle medical record management, legal research, and client communication, all while upholding confidentiality. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a positive, team-oriented attitude are essential in this role.
Job Duties include but are not limited to :
- Manage a litigation docket of 60 cases.
- Drafting and Filing Legal Documents : Assist attorneys with drafting and preparing legal documents including but not limited to petitions, motions, orders, discovery requests and responses, Rule 11 agreements, and pre-trial motions, ensuring compliance with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure (TRCP).
- Trial Preparation : Support trial preparation by organizing and preparing trial exhibits, creating detailed trial notebooks and binders, and ensuring all materials are systematically arranged for easy access during court proceedings.
- Deadline Docketing : Calendar deadlines on case management system and outlook and maintain litigation calendar updated every day.
- Hearing and Deposition Preparation : Help attorneys prepare for hearings, trials, and depositions by organizing relevant documents, coordinating logistics, and setting up necessary materials.
- Scheduling and Arrangements : Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and manage travel arrangements for attorneys as needed.
- Administrative and Document Management : Provide administrative support by managing and organizing court and office documentation, including correspondence, filing systems, and case files.
- Correspondence and Communication : Draft, send, and track legal correspondence and communications to clients, experts, opposing counsel, and courts ensuring clarity and professionalism. Provide weekly updates to clients.
- Case Data Management and Organization : Gather, organize, and analyze critical case data and factual information, maintaining well-organized records to support case strategy and development.
- Medical Record Management : Order, review, and summarize medical records, ensuring they are organized and accessible for case analysis and presentation.
- Case Progress Tracking : Monitor and track the progress of cases, ensuring that all deadlines and milestones are met and updating case statuses as necessary.
- Compliance and Regulatory Requirements : Ensure all legal documents and procedures comply with relevant regulations and requirements, maintaining adherence to legal standards and firm policies.
- Collaboration with Attorneys and Support Staff : Work closely with attorneys and support staff, providing necessary assistance, sharing information, and coordinating efforts to advance case objectives.
- Case Strategy Development : Assist in developing case strategies by providing insights from case data and research, participating in strategy meetings, and supporting the implementation of case plans.
- Research : Conduct research on relevant medical and legal literature to support case preparation and strategy.
- Confidentiality : Uphold strict confidentiality of sensitive client information and case details.
