The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accounting records and preparing financial statements. This position will work with the Accounting Manager to ensure accuracy, organization, and efficiency. The Staff Accountant is expected to have an impact on process improvement, cost control, and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory standards.
Duties and responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
- Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.

Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent).
- 1 year accounting experience in a private business.
- Experience with bank reconciliations.
- Experience with Commission preparations.
- Able to multitask and have good communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite applications with excellent Excel skills.
- Able to manipulate and analyze data through Pivot tables, Vlookup and data filters.
- Must have solid analytical skills.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret common financial documents.
Working conditions
Work environment is usually fast paced with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations requiring a high level of adaptability and flexibility. Field of work includes offices, the warehouse and surrounding grounds, roads/highways/interstates, automobiles, and various kinds of customer locations. Limited hazards due to presence in warehouse, office, and grounds surrounding distribution center. Unknown hazards present on roads, highways, interstates, and customer/vendor/business partner locations.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, sit, talk, walk, drive, read, type and hear. The employee must frequently stand and walk. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Salary : $65,000 - $72,000
