TITLE: Youth / Camp Counselor
DEPARTMENT: Youth Activities
REPORTING TO: Youth Activities Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Counselor is responsible for the safety and positive environment of the children at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. He/she will continually strive to enhance their experience and deliver an atmosphere that is consistent with the Club's mission, vision and core values by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures all areas are set up properly and timely and broken down each day.
- Responsible for assisting the program staff during activities
- Assists with all special events such as (but not limited to) Brunch with Santa, Easter Bunny Bash, Halloween, Movie Night, etc.
- Knows the location of all children while signed into any Kids Club activity or event and maintains all sign in/out sheets.
- Promotes a positive, healthy and safe environment for the Royal Palm children.
- Creatively and effectively comes up with new ideas for the Kids' Club.
- Participates in all camp activities (golf, tennis, fishing, field games, etc)
- Follows the Club's employee dress code policy. Counselor's uniform includes khaki pants or shorts (fingertip length), Club provided polo or t-shirt and Club provided name tag, worn on the right hand side of the shirt. If an employee has a visible tattoo, it must be covered.
Education / Experience
- Working toward or has received a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum 1 year related experience in a camp setting
Qualifications
- CPR/AED Certification
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Works well under pressure and time constraints
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
