What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Sales Representative-Recycling position at Royal Paper Stock?
Job summary:
Primary role of this position is to develop new prospects in the recycling industry. The outside sales representative needs to be able to develop proposals and quotations for perspective customers while understanding the paper recycling industry and market conditions. Hours and responsibilities will vary depending on company and industry needs. A competitive benefits package, pay and perks will be provided to our newest team member.
Job Responsibilities:
- Understand the recycling industry and the paper mills to which we sell scrap paper waste for recycling.
- Develop a knowledge of the different grades of scrap paper, plastic and metal waste in order to help our customers maximize their revenue generated from scrap waste.
- Become familiar with Royal Paper Stock, the service we offer and our pricing structure.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all customers and perspective customers while providing excellent service.
- Have the ability to cross-sell for related services under our company umbrella.
- Meet regularly with customers to ensure satisfaction as well as making sure that any issues are corrected in an efficient manner.
- Regularly meet with Management Team to review sales activities, goals and status of prospective customers.
- Review daily city pick-up schedule, so you are aware of your current customer schedule and that they are being serviced.
- Review inventory for the daily meeting to better understand the current recycling market trends.
- Daily maintenance of CRM software for prospects & current customer contact.
- Foster partnerships with other waste management companies to help pursue Royal Paper Stocks goals.
- Build relationships with RPS employee's to ensure the best customer service for existing and new customers.
- Perform other duties as instructed to successfully complete the job.
Job Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.

- Must present and communicate in a professional manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidates are expected to be organized and have good time management skills.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel are imperative.
- Sale representatives are expected to be self-motivated and work independently to meet or exceed sales goals.
- Possess good problem-solving skills for both the customer and the company.
- Previous sales experience is a benefit, but not required.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment/Industrial environment
- Travel locally and regionally with overnight stays possible
- Visiting paper mills is a benefit to understanding the industry and will be required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
