Substitute Custodians

Job Description: Maintains cleanliness and organization of school buildings, rooms, and grounds. Essential duties include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, cleaning windows, dusting, vacuuming classrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, hallways, stairs, office space, and restrooms.

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, cleans windows, dusts, vacuums classrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, hallways, stairs, office space, and restrooms.
• Empties trash and garbage containers.
• Maintains buildings, performs minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and small maintenance activities.
• Notifies principal concerning need for major repairs.
• Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks and other areas as required.

Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, individual must possess valid Washington State Driver's License, be trustworthy and safety conscious, and have ability to work independently with good initiative. Requirements include ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, apply mathematical concepts, and solve practical problems.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands: Employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Employee frequently stands, kneels, crouches, crawls, and talks or hears. Employee occasionally climbs or balances. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• While performing duties, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
• Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.

Work Environment: Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment: Salary: Per PSE - Salary Schedule- Custodian Step 2 (Per CBA)- $20.57
Hours: 8 hours per day
