The Server sets the tone for Sonesta’s mission of “Wowing” our guests with Amazing Moments. The role’s primary responsibility is to welcome guests, take orders, serve food and beverages items to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner in accordance with quality standards. The Server must maintain supplies and follow established cleanliness and sanitation guidelines.The ideal candidate has a passion for hospitality and providing exceptional guest service.
Job Description
Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:
Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu.
Serve food and beverage orders after checking for correct temperature, appearance, and portions. Refill when necessary.
Operate point of sale system and ensure food orders are verified and transmitted in a prompt manner. Adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures.
Periodically check-in with tables to ensure guests’ expectations are being met and exceeded.
Maintain proper condition and cleanliness of dining areas, stations, and servicing equipment.
Complete all closing duties and reports as assigned.
Ability to deliver high quality customer service and respond to customer needs.
Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally to extend customer service with a professional and pleasant personality.
Ability to perform work without direct supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
Display daily professional, courteous, attentive, helpful, and positive attitude towards all guests, fellow employees, and managers.
Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team to reach common goals.
Ability to follow Sonesta’s policies and procedures according to company guidelines.
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
Perform other job duties as requested by supervisors/managers as other job duties may be assigned as needed.
Understanding Sonesta’s company and safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA and the health department requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Valid Driver’s License preferred.
Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift.
Ability to proactively communicate and work effectively with hotel staff, corporate, and hotel customers.
Reading and writing abilities to understand departmental correspondence and complete all required departmental documents.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including dealing with difficult guests.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Previous front facing guest service experience preferred.
Experience with point-of-sale systems or other computerized cash registers preferred.
Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Work Environment:
Must be able work in a fast-paced environment.
Indoor & Outdoor atmosphere.
Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures – (i.e., kitchens, freezers).
Physical Demands:
Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period. Ability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Ability to move up and down ladders, stairs, and service ramps.
Ability to stand during entire shift.
Must be able to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 20 lbs. at a time.
Expected Hours of Work:
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
- Must be flexible to work various days and various shifts of the week to include weekends, holidays, days, nights and overnight.
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards which have been established by the hotel from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Travel:
No travel required. On property work required.
Education and Experience:
Highschool diploma or GED required.
Hotel, customer service related, and food and beverage experience required.
One year of previous hotel, customer service, and/or food and beverage experience preferred.

Pay Range
$14.00 - Minimum Wage Amount. Base pay offered is reflective of minimum wage requirement.
