Job Summary : We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiovascular / Cardiothoracic Surgery team on a locum tenens basis. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to promoting patient safety, delivering compassionate care, and working independently within established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide comprehensive care in various settings including hospital, clinic, and remote (telephone, video, secure email).
  • Gather patient histories, conduct physical exams, and review prior records and ancillary data to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed, in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and counseling to support care plans, treatment, and discharge.
  • Assist collaborating physicians with the management of patients in accordance with care site policies and regulations.
  • Document patient interactions and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards and practice metrics.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, adhering to service behavior standards.
  • Participate in a multi-disciplinary team approach to care, ensuring continuity, coordination, and evaluation.
  • May be required to float to other departments based on business needs or be placed on-call during scheduled shifts.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Physician Assistant with relevant experience in cardiovascular and / or cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Ability to function independently while remaining collaborative within a team environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and clinical judgment skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate care and improving patient outcomes.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.
  • Compliance with all regulatory standards and care site guidelines.
  • A valid PA license and appropriate credentials for practice.
