As a Designer, you will support operations and supply base to produce electrical disconnect switches used by utility companies. This position will interpret customer specifications, draft in SolidWorks, process shop work orders, and perform various office duties.LOCATION: Fully Onsite - 3995 Pine Ln SE, Bessemer, AL 35022ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designing high voltage disconnect control mechanisms primarily using SolidWorks or AutoCAD LT according to department CAD standards.
- Designing and detailing fabricated parts.
- Leveraging extensive library of pre-existing designs to efficiently create drawing packages for customer approval.
- Making timely revisions based on markups.
- Documenting drawing changes through an established ISO-9001 compliant Engineering Change process.
- Creating drawing packages from a variety of inputs - hand sketches, marked photos, and fully detailed substations.
- Interpreting customer drawings which typically entail detailed structural members and substation equipment layouts.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
- An associate's degree in Drafting or Design from technical school with a minimum of 3 years' experience is preferred.
- Expertise in SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) manufacturing creating parts, assemblies, sheet metal parts, and drawings are required; working knowledge of SolidWorks API Object Model strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in O-365 product suite, Syteline, PDM Professional (filevault) is required.
- Structural detailing or mechanical system design experience is required.
- Experience in working with configuration and design tables required.
- Experience in design standardization and basic principles of GD&T are required.
- Experience with DFM and different manufacturing processes required.
- Must have the ability to solve problems and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must have experience designing engineered-to-order products in a production environment.
- Must be detail-oriented and have great time management skills while always operating with a sense of urgency.
