Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments. This role is vital in delivering high-quality care within a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, where teamwork and patient-centered approaches are paramount.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Help patients with mobility needs, including transferring them safely from beds to wheelchairs or other locations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient areas, ensuring a safe environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in providing comprehensive care for patients in various departments, including Medical-surgical, Emergency medicine, and PICU.
- Participate in patient education initiatives by assisting with teaching basic health management skills.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.
- Knowledge of hospital medicine practices is advantageous.
- Familiarity with inpatient care protocols and emergency medicine procedures is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle stressful environments calmly.
- Certification in CPR or First Aid is desirable but not mandatory.
