We are professional, supportive, engaging and our goal is to promote services which will increase an individuals levels of functioning. Direct Support Professionals will work with Adults with Intellectual Disabilities in a COMMUNITY setting.
Two positions available
Job Title: Direct Support Professional
Qualified candidates will have experience in implementing individualized support plans, behavior management techniques, providing supervision, training, assistance, and support for Adult (18 and older) with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities in a community setting
- Implement individualized care plans and support goals set by the individuals
- Monitor and document individual's progress and behaviors
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at all times
- Promote independence and community integration for individuals
- Advocate for individuals rights and ensure their dignity is maintained
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care
- Attend and satisfactorily complete all required training in areas such as First Aid, CPR, AED, Medication Management training, Therapeutic Options of Virginia, DSP Orientation, etc.
Skills:
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information
- Familiarity with individual rights and ability to advocate for their needs
- Proficient in lifting and transferring techniques to assist individuals with mobility challenges
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and work with individuals, families, and staff members
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED required and 1-year experience working with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
- Must pass Criminal Background Check, Child Protective Services Background Check, and a TB Test Screening.
- Must have valid Driver License and acceptable driving record
