Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct a variety of microbiological tests including cultures, sensitivities, and molecular diagnostics
- Isolate and identify microorganisms from clinical specimens
- Perform quality control procedures, ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and regulations
- Analyze test results and communicate findings to healthcare professionals
- Maintain records of tests performed and ensure data integrity
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to maintain laboratory equipment and contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures
- Participate in training and mentoring of junior staff and laboratory assistants
- Stay current with advancements in microbiology and laboratory practices
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field
- Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license from a recognized certifying agency
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a microbiology-focused clinical laboratory
- Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques, quality control, and safety practices
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care
