Key Responsibilities:
- Apply, remove, and adjust casts, splints, and orthopedic devices under the direction of healthcare providers
- Assist with the preparation and setup of surgical instruments and equipment for orthopedic procedures
- Educate patients and their families about cast care, mobility aids, and rehabilitation protocols
- Monitor patients for signs of complications or discomfort related to their orthopedic treatment
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and treatments
- Collaborate with the orthopedic team to provide thorough and compassionate patient care
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of orthopedic tools and equipment
- Assist with administrative duties, including scheduling follow-up appointments
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited orthopedic technician program preferred
- Previous experience as an Ortho Tech or in a related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic procedures, terminology, and anatomy
- Ability to provide excellent patient care and support
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of medical imaging and diagnostic techniques
- Certification through the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists (NBOT) is a plus
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
