Position Summary

The janitor will be responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary conditions throughout the facility by using cleaning equipment to properly clean the facility, requisitioning janitorial supplies, and ensuring that there is an adequate inventory of supplies.

Essential Duties/Job Responsibilities (Job Duties)

• Safely use cleaning materials to clean and sanitize the facility.
• Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and requisition materials as needed.
• Vacuum carpets, sweep/mop floors, clean windows, scrub restrooms, dust furniture, and collect and empty trashcans daily.
• Wipe up spills with sponges/squeegees.
• Supply restrooms with the necessary materials for everyday use including toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels.
• Wipe down surfaces in breakrooms; maintain tidy appearance in breakrooms; restock supplies as needed.
• Ensure all assigned areas are in orderly condition.
• Monitor and report and unsafe or hazardous conditions and non-functioning equipment.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:

• High School Degree or GED
• Strong organizations skills
• Ability to work independently within a team environment carefully managing time during the course of a shift and week.
• Strong attention to detail and areas requiring cleaning
• Ability to skillfully and safely operate job specific tools and equipment.
• Verbal communication skills and comfort interacting with company employees.
• Ability to accurately interpret, understand, and follow cleaning supply labels, instructions and warnings.

Experience:

• Minimum of one year of janitorial experience.
• Experience in a light manufacturing setting preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience working without direct supervision throughout shift but being accountable to the job and supervisor for all cleanliness requirements.

Requirements:

• Will work office, technical lab, showroom, and light manufacturing settings.
• Will perform work on carpeted and concrete floors for duration of shift, standing and walking for most of the shift.
• Must be able to lift and move (push, pull, carry) items weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
• Must be able to raise arms above shoulders regularly and freely rotate arms/shoulders to lift/move parts.
• Must be able to kneel, crouch, stoop, bend, and squat when needed.
• Work will include repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and leg motion.
• Will need hand and finger flexibility and dexterity and excellent eyesight with or without corrective lenses.
• Must be able to work in manufacturing setting, including various types of equipment, tools, and inventory.
• Must be willing to take initiative to address janitorial needs without a direct request.
