Position Summary (major areas of contribution):
The Machine Operator is responsible for performing various tasks across different departments within a sheet metal manufacturing facility. The Machine Operator will be assigned to different departments as needed and will assist with general labor and various machine operation as needed.
Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:
- Operate various machinery, such as cutting machines, bending machines and welding machines
- Inspect finished products, components and materials to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, reporting any defects or issues to supervisors.
- Perform tasks such as cleaning work areas, removing debris, assisting with equipment setup and breakdown and other general labor duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Collaborate with team members and leaders to achieve production goals.
Minimum Qualifications / Skills:
Including Formal Training (courses, degrees, and credentials required):
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- High mechanical aptitude
- Collaborate with team members and leaders to achieve production goals
Experience (type and amount of experience required):
- 1 year of sheet metal manufacturing experience is preferred
Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Good close and peripheral vision
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to crouch, crawl, stoop when necessary
Good hand and finger dexterity
