Job Summary:
The Paint Line Expert is responsible for overseeing the painting and coating processes in the manufacturing plant, ensuring high-quality finishes on products while maintaining efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves monitoring equipment, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing the paint line for maximum productivity and minimal waste.
Essential Duties/ Job Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain paint line equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adjust paint flow, temperature, and pressure settings to meet quality specifications.
- Ensure proper pretreatment of parts, including cleaning, priming, and coating application.
- Conduct regular inspections of painted products to verify adherence to quality standards.
- Identify and address defects such as runs, sags, and inconsistent coatings.
- Implement process improvements to enhance paint adhesion, durability, and finish quality.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to maintain compliance with customer specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of painting equipment, including spray guns, booths, and curing ovens.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions to prevent production delays.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams for preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Follow OSHA and EPA regulations related to hazardous materials, ventilation, and waste disposal.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of paint, solvents, and other chemicals.
- Wear and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Train and mentor team members on proper paint application techniques and equipment usage.
- Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for paint line operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training in industrial painting or coatings preferred).
- 3 years of experience in industrial painting, powder coating, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and coating applications.
- Familiarity with automated and manual painting systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintenance of paint line equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and high temperatures in a paint booth or production setting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Requires wearing PPE such as respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Shift work may be required, including evenings and weekends.
