Established Dermatology practice currently has 5 Full-time MA positions open in Centreville and Fairfax, VA - Requiring Medical Assistants with at least 2-3 years of recent Dermatology practice experience to join our tight-knit team full-time, by March 28th. - 2 MA openings @ Centreville, VA
- 3 MA openings in Fairfax, VA
START DATE: March 28th
PAYRATE: $23.09/hr - $27.78/hr - Granted based on experience
SHIFT: Mon to Fri, 8a - 5p (Full-time, 40 hours/week guaranteed)
- Volume of patients per day: 50 to 60
- One provider supported by 2-3 MA's
- EMR system used: EMA
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- MUST have 2 - 3 years of Dermatology setting experience
- Must have recent Dermatology practice experience as an MA
- Medical Assistance program (Certified / CMA preferred)
- Proficiency within EMR System: EMA "Electronic Medical Assistant"

JOB SUMMARY
- Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
- Show patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms or operative rooms and prepare them for the physician.
- Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
- Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician following safety protocol of right dose, right patient, right route, right drug and noting expiration date
- Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, wound care instructions and physicians' instructions to patients.
- Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures.
- Under Provider direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Inspects sterile items prior to opening and lay supplies out on sterile field in an organized manner
- Assist physician with surgical procedure while maintaining sterile field
- Assess the patients condition throughout the exam, procedure or surgery according to the facilities policies and notify physician and RN of any indication of distress
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Dermatology Clinical setting for at least 2 to 3 years, recently, i.e. internal medicine.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Management and organizational skills to support the leadership
- Proficiency in medication administration and understanding of medical-surgical protocols.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of clinical systems for managing patient records and appointments.
- Ability to take vital signs accurately and respond to patient needs promptly.
- Familiarity with inhalation therapies is a plus but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as a medical assistant required
