The EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, developing workplace safety programs, and promoting a safety culture within the manufacturing facility.
This role will support the implementation of policies, conduct training, and work closely with operations to identify and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities :
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local safety regulations. Maintain and update required EHS documentation, permits, and reports. o Conduct audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Safety Programs & Training : Develop and implement workplace safety programs, procedures, and policies. Conduct EHS training for employees, including new hire orientations, hazard communication, PPE use, and emergency response. Lead safety meetings and support the development of a strong safety culture.
- Risk Assessment & Incident Management : Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments to prevent workplace injuries. Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns, and recommend corrective actions. Maintain records of safety incidents and track trends to develop proactive solutions.
- Environmental Compliance & Sustainability : Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Oversee air and water quality programs, ensuring proper reporting and corrective actions. Support sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency projects.
- Emergency Preparedness : Develop and implement emergency response procedures and drills. To ensure fire protection systems and emergency equipment are maintained and inspected regularly. Act as a key contact for emergency situations and coordinate with local authorities when needed.
