How you'll make an impact
  • Primary focus is to managing a small support team in the underwriting, management, and selling of products offered by binding and brokerage carriers with emphasis on writing new business.
  • Has individual production goals assigned and is measured on new business goal attainment. Manages a team of sales and underwriting support staff responsible for processing the new business production of the incumbent.
  • Directs support staff in the underwriting of individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
  • Directs support team on whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
  • Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
  • Develops relationships with contracted brokers. Works under limited supervision. Orients, trains, assigns and checks the work of lower level reports.

About You
  • Required: Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Preferred: Prior experience managing support staff preferred.
  • Behaviors: Assignments are broad in nature and usually require originality and ingenuity.
