What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Finance and Accounting position at RQAW Corporation?
Description
Direct the accounting and financial activities of the organization in compliance with GAAP standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provides support to the CFO and Division Leads that includes proactive financial analysis to help manage the business through the identification of trends, risks and opportunities; drives/tracks strategic initiatives
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee the monthly accounting close
- Ensure a timely monthly close and completion of financial statements
- Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed
- Maintain a best-in-class accounting work-paper system to include the documentation of reconciliations, balance sheet items, journal entries, etc.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Oversee and supervise the accounting staff and activities within the accounting department in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Support and enforce organizational goals, policies, procedures and values.
- Analyze variances and take/recommend corrective action.
- Prepare and implement departmental budgets, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
- Analyze discrepancies between actual and budgeted expectations, take/recommend corrective action.
- Monitor internal controls and processes in all areas of the business and make recommendations for increased efficiency, accuracy and cost savings.
- Develop and present workable implementation plans.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or equivalent in education and experience.
- Must have a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible corporate accounting experience
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial procedures
- Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, and enterprise level billing applications.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is preferred
