RQAW|DCCM is seeking a highly motivated individual interested in leading and growing a Survey and Right-of-Way Engineering department for municipal, transportation, public works, and civil/site construction projects. This group will do it all, from land title surveys to topographic and boundary surveys, to hydrographic, transportation, and utility route surveys, to right-of-way services, construction, and right-of-way staking. Responsibilities
- Manage land survey projects in the areas of: boundary, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, transportation/right-of-way, topographic, utility, and construction staking
- Communicate with clients and internal groups/employees in a professional manner
- Provide direction to survey crews and technicians
- Review the work of other surveying staff
- Take ownership of monthly revenue and performance of assigned projects
- Prepare proposals, scopes, fees, and field files for projects
- Knowledge in the current version of AutoCAD/C3D a must
- Microsoft Office knowledge
- Supervising field crews in their daily surveying tasks
- Preparing legal descriptions for easements, route surveys, and fee simple takings to support engineering projects.
- This role would also research deeds & rights-of-way in addition to assisting CAD technicians in placing boundary lines in engineering plans.
- Working with design engineers to understand easement requirements for proposed infrastructure and estimating surveying costs for proposed projects are other duties of this position.
- Minimal travel and field work may be necessary occasionally
- INDOT prequalification in Right-of-Way Engineering and Topographic Survey Data Collection required
- Firsthand knowledge of INDOT survey processes and procedures required
- Must hold a current Professional Surveyor License in Indiana
- Candidates must have the ability and willingness to manage the daily operations of the survey department
- Knowledge of construction staking, and calculations associated with staking is considered a plus
- Must be comfortable with operating Trimble robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment and be willing to train subordinates in said activities.
- Detail-oriented, possess good organizational and communication skills.
- Previous experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Trimble equipment and software is preferred.
- Must be well versed in operating Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
- Experience with LPA and INDOT topographic/route surveys a plus
