Job Title: Cultivator – Cannabis Farm

Position Overview
We are seeking two(2) skilled and experienced Cannabis Cultivators; for each to manage and oversee all aspects of the cultivation process on our two farms in Michigan. Each farm spans 40 acres, requiring a dedicated professional with a deep understanding of cannabis cultivation, regulatory compliance, and large-scale farming operations. This role is critical to ensuring the success of the planting, growing, harvesting, and overall production of high-quality cannabis.
Key Responsibilities
- Cultivation Management:
- Plan and manage the entire cannabis cultivation cycle, from seed selection and propagation to harvest and post-harvest processes.
- Oversee soil preparation, nutrient management, irrigation, pest control, pruning, and defoliation.
- Develop and maintain a schedule for planting, watering, fertilizing, and pest management to ensure optimal plant health and yield.
- Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to prevent and mitigate pest and disease issues.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Michigan state laws, including cannabis cultivation regulations, tracking, and reporting using METRC.
- Maintain meticulous records of plant health, growth metrics, pesticide use, and harvest yields for state-mandated reporting and internal audits.
- Farm Operations:
- Operate and maintain cultivation equipment such as irrigation systems, tractors, and harvesting tools.
- Supervise and train cultivation staff, including seasonal workers, as needed during peak times.
- Oversee the setup and maintenance of greenhouses, if applicable.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor plant health, environmental conditions, and nutrient levels to produce premium-grade cannabis.
- Conduct regular inspections of the farms to ensure plants are thriving and operations are running efficiently.
- Data Analysis & Improvement:
- Record and analyze crop performance data to identify areas for improvement in yield and quality.
- Propose and implement new cultivation techniques and technologies to enhance productivity.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in cannabis cultivation, with experience managing large-scale outdoor or mixed-light farms preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Michigan's cannabis laws and regulations, including METRC compliance.
- Education:
- Degree or certification in agriculture, horticulture, botany, or a related field preferred, but hands-on experience is equally valued.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in nutrient management, irrigation systems, pest and disease identification, and crop yield optimization.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage farm staff and contractors.
- Proficient in data tracking and reporting tools, including METRC, spreadsheets, and farm management software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physical labor as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing two or more locations simultaneously.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and organic farming methods.
- Proven track record of maximizing yields on a large scale while maintaining high quality.
