What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineer-Water Resources position at RRC Companies?
RRC is seeking a talented Civil Engineer-Water Resources to help us build the future of U.S. energy production from our Round Rock, Texas office. In this position, you will have the opportunity to apply hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage analyses to aid in the development of large utility-scale wind and solar projects. You may expect to develop experience related to hydraulic modeling, water quality design, stormwater infrastructure design, report preparation, design plan development, and permitting.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform large complex hydrologic and hydraulic modelling for the development of wind and solar projects.
- Perform analysis and design of stormwater drainage systems including, culvert design, roadway low water crossings, stormwater detention, scour analysis and mitigation measures, etc.
- Perform stormwater quality and erosion mitigation analysis and design. This may include design of sedimentation basins, stormwater BMPs, and related hydraulic structures.
- Perform floodplain modeling.
- Prepare reports, studies, exhibits and designs related to hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
- Work closely with other technical staff to produce quality H&H models, analyses, and cost-effective designs.
- Assist in development of construction documents.
- Perform project field visits and investigations.
- Conduct research for project specific stormwater management requirements.
- Assist in development of H&H analysis standardized processes, standards, and best practices.
- Work with other team members to develop and enhance modeling skills.
- Work closely with the Project Engineers and CAD designers to provide an integrated civil drainage design within the allocated schedule and budget.
- Responsive to the needs of the client and project requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Water Resources or Civil/Environmental Engineering.
- EIT and able to obtain a PE license within 6 months from hire, or current PE.
- 2-4 years of strong experience in engineering drainage design and hydrologic/ hydraulic concepts and modeling preferred.
- Knowledge of hydrological methods: Rational method, Small Watershed Method, SCS Hydrological Soils (NRCS) required.
- Working knowledge of a wide range of software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, HY-8, etc.
- Experience with ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and extensions.
- Technical experience with 2D modeling software packages such as FLO2D preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
- Proficient with office software including MS Word, MS Excel, Blue Beam, Adobe, etc.
- Ability to prepare technical reports with supporting exhibits, tables, charts, and software output.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team .
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to build relationships with team members and prepare project reports.
5% travel may be expected to jobsites for site visits and/or client meetings, and may include overnight stays for several days
