What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Planning Intern - Summer 2025 position at RS&H?
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Summer 2025 Transportation Planning Intern for the Transportation-Infrastructure Business Unit.
The Transportation Planning Intern will be mentored by and support mid-level and senior planning staff. This individual will assist in projects to identify future multimodal transportation needs and support development of studies for clients. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands on experience and a better understanding of the Transportation Planning Industry.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support for Travel Demand Modeling, Transportation System/Network Planning and Operations, Transit Planning, Freight Planning, Transportation Master Plans, Complete Streets, Pedestrian/Bicycle Facilities Planning, Land Use Planning and Environmental Planning
- Conduct research, data collection and analysis
- GIS, Mapping and development of representative figures
- Assist in report development and meeting preparation / support
- Perform basic calculations
Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, or associated field with an emphasis on Transportation Planning
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Power Point)
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic aligning with the company’s mission and core values
- Must reside and/or attend an institution (physical or online) near Miami, FL
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2.5 GPA or higher
- GIS experience (ArcGIS Pro and/Arc Map, a plus)
- Experience or exposure to transportation planning in Florida
- Specific interest in Transportation Planning
