What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at Rs Technical Services Inc?
RS Technical Services has an immediate opening for a field service technician with some sales work. This job requires driving to various municipal (and some industrial) water or waste water treatment plants around the state of Michigan to service, adjust, or start up the equipment which we sell. We also install equipment on some small jobs.
Basic requirements of this job include:
- A Michigan driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must own and maintain your own hand tools. Large or specialized tools, equipment, and PPE will be provided.
- Must have a good mechanical aptitude.
- Must have a basic understanding of electricity. Previous training is a plus.
We represent several leading manufacturers of equipment used for applying chemicals to processes which clean and disinfect water. This is a specialized field so, unless you already possess all of the necessary skills, you will apprentice with one of our experienced technicians for several months until you are ready to work alone. A typical week will have you working at a different job site most days and in the office 1-2 days. There are exceptions where you will be at the same site for two or three days. Typically, you will spend two nights a month in a motel. While these occasional nights away are unavoidable, we will work with you to schedule these jobs to minimize the disruptions this can cause in your personal life. We very rarely work on weekends.
Given that this job requires you to work alone much of the time, it requires a responsible person who is punctual, self-motivated, friendly, enjoys travel, and has good communication skills.
We are looking for an ambitious, stable, career-minded individual who takes great pride in a job well done. We will train you in job-site safety, troubleshooting problems, making repairs, preventive maintenance, calibrations, etc. This is challenging but very rewarding work with a secure future. As long as cities and counties need to provide clean drinking water and clean up their waste water, they will need the equipment and services we offer.
Starting pay is commensurate with your experience. As you become productive, raises and bonuses will follow. We want you to succeed, do well, and be financially secure so you will enjoy this job and want to stay. We also offer: Health Insurance, Retirement, Paid Vacation Time, Paid Holidays, and a Company Service Van (as soon as you are able to work alone).
