Position Summary
The position of the Collection Specialist is responsible for the collection of outstanding Accounts Receivable from customers in support of the Billing Department. This role is also responsible for contacting customers that have unresolved customer billing issues.
Roles & Responsibilities
● Locate and contact customers with overdue accounts to discuss outstanding balances
● Work with customers to establish and negotiate suitable payment plans or arrangements to resolve outstanding
debts
● Address and resolve any customer disputes or concerns regarding billing or payments
● Keep accurate records of all collection activities, including contacts, payment arrangements, and resolutions
● Ensure compliance with relevant collection laws and regulations
● Regularly monitor accounts to identify potential issues and take proactive steps to address them
● Work to improve overall collection rates and reduce outstanding debt
● Maintain clear and professional communication with both internal teams and external customers
● Identify and resolve complex payment issues and work to resolve disputes with customers
● While focusing on debt recovery, strive to maintain positive relationships with customers
● Be proficient in using collection software and other relevant tools
● Be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
● Maintain accurate records and attention to detail
Skills & Qualifications
● Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
● Positive attitude at work, characterized by optimism and enthusiasm
● Ability to deal with difficult customers - patience and persistence
● Proficient knowledge of Excel - pivot tables, lookup functions, basic formulas
● Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suites
● Knowledge of the billing process and collection techniques
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Effectively managing time and meeting deadlines
● Stress Management - the role can be demanding, so the ability to manage stress is important
Education & Experience
● High School Diploma or equivalent
● Previous office experience preferred
● Previous accounting/billing experience preferred

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Hourly Rate: $16 - $17 (depending on experience)
