CTA Safety Training Specialist Position

POSITION SUMMARY:

Training Specialist:

Training and Workforce Development (TWD) is responsible for working with departments across the

Authority to meet their safety and security training needs. These training range from initial to refresher,

and from recertification to newly designed regulatory-required training. 

SCOPE OF SERVICES: 

TWD is requesting a professional services contract for two Full-Time Temporary Training Specialists. The

FTT Training Specialists will facilitate a range of initial and refresher trainings and will ensure that CTA’s

instructional materials are used, and all the trainings are recorded through CTA’s Learning Management

System (LMS).

Scope to include primary focuses: 

• Train and facilitate assigned safety and security training programs for CTA employees including:

o Fall Protection Initial and Refresher 

o Confined Space Initial and Refresher 

o Powered Industrial Trucks Initial and Refresher 

o OSHA 10/30 Hour and 

o New Hire Safety Orientation 

o Other trainings as assigned. 

• Maintain certifications required to facilitate training.
• Work at various locations and during assigned weekdays and weekends.
• Multi-level professional communication between departments.
• Using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and various office applications.
• Utilize CTA’s LMS – CTA-U Online to enter training data for each facilitated course.
• Complete paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Verify training records integrity and document progress of project.

CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS: 

The Full-Time Temporary Training Specialists will be required to have the following

certifications/credentials: 

• OSHA (501) Authorized Trainer for General Industry required.
• Experience facilitating various safety-related training required.
• Fall Protection Competent Trainer certification required.
• Permit-required Confined Space Trainer certification required.
• Strong training and facilitation skills required.
• Powered Industrial Truck Trainer certification preferred.
• Experience facilitating new hire safety orientation preferred.
• Strong computer software skills, including use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools preferred.
• Previous experience with LMS preferred.
