POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading, motivating, training, and reviewing the work of the Accounts Receivable Specialists. The Accounts Receivable Manager oversees the daily functions of the accounts receivable process, ensuring that customer payments and credits are posted accurately and timely. This position is also responsible for completing various accounting projects and tasks as assigned by the Controller.
REGULAR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the Accounts Receivable Specialists to ensure that payments are properly posted and applied to the customer accounts.
Ensures the accuracy of the Accounts Receivable Aging.
Responsible for the review of various other receivables reports, including the Outstanding OA Report, the Outstanding Prepaid Report and the Outstanding Auto POD – ACH Report, making adjustments as necessary, and/or working with other departments to resolve issues.
Responsible for reviewing the AR Edits reports for accuracy, ensuring the correct AR reference was used, and adjusting as needed.
Responsible for calculating and posting federal excise taxes receivable from vendors, including review of the requests for accuracy, sending to vendors, auditing the Outstanding FET report and following up with the Vendor Relations to assist with collecting past due amounts.
Ensures that emails received in the accounts receivable inboxes are adequately addressed in a timely manner.
Ensures that customer refunds are processed accurately and in a timely manner when needed.
Works with Collections and Sales departments to investigate and properly address issues with customer accounts.
Documents and evaluates accounts receivable processes and procedures, and makes recommendations for improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy and/or customer satisfaction.
Supervises, educates and motivates staff.
Evaluates, communicates, and documents employees’ performance in a timely manner. Conducts annual performance evaluations of direct reports.
Works with Human Resources to recruit, interview, and hire new employees.
Develops training programs for new employees, conducts their training, and reviews their work until they are able to work independently with minimal supervision and review.
Serves as backup for the Accounts Receivable Specialists, when needed.
Assists in the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation for the year-end audit.
Assists Accounting department, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in accounting, finance, or business, and at least five years of experience in accounting (one of which was in a supervisory capacity) or accounts receivable supervision. A strong attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, and analytical/problem-solving skills are required. This person must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, word processing, and an adding machine.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of the Accounts Receivable Manager, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision ability required include, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
