OVERVIEW
The Controller is the key leader within the accounting team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. This role ensures financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting the company's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and manufacturing finance, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of optimizing financial processes. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and expenditure management to align with company objectives.
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, fixed assets, treasury, and budget preparation.
- Develop, implement, and enhance internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Identify training and development opportunities to enhance employee capabilities and performance.
- Oversee the preparation of consolidated and individual company financial statements, activity reports, forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Ensure financial reporting aligns with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Analyze historical, current, and projected financial data to identify opportunities for process improvements and strategic growth.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals to facilitate annual audits and tax return preparation.
- Manage the calculation and payment of corporate, sales/use, and property taxes across multiple entities.
- Stay up to date on federal and state regulations, industry standards, and best practices in financial management.
- Mentor and develop accounting team members to support career growth and succession planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 8 years in accounting, specifically in the construction and/or manufacturing industry with a multi-entity structure
- 5 years of managerial experience overseeing teams of 5 or more
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; MBA or CPA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; SOX compliance experience is a plus
- Proficiency in ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong ability to interpret financial data and drive informed decision-making
- Excellent collaboration skills with experience working across functional teams
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, and energy industries is highly desirable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to convey detailed and accurate instructions and information verbally
- Ability to hear with or without correction for receiving and interpreting detailed information
- Ability to sit at a desk workstation for varying periods
- Capability to push, pull, lift, reach, and carry at least 10 pounds, occasionally lifting/moving up to 35 lbs. with or without assistance
- Occasional walking and standing are required
- Visual acuity with or without correction for reading documentation, analyzing data, and using electronic devices
- Use of fingers and hands for operating a computer or other electronic devices
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Controller primarily operates within an office setting, designed as an open and collaborative space. The role involves a balance of independent work and teamwork, fostering a supportive environment to effectively address and fulfill customer requests.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

COMPENSATION:
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $142,250.00 - $235,700.00. The actual amount offered within this range will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant job-related factors. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
