Freight Dispatcher

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Dispatcher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating transportation logistics, ensuring timely deliveries, and managing fleet operations effectively. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to utilize various systems for efficient transportation planning while upholding our core values: Reliable, Safe, Service, and Team.

Responsibilities

• Truck Utilization: Monitor and maintain truck utilization at 90% or higher by efficiently assigning loads, optimizing routes, and minimizing downtime.
• Driver Coordination: Communicate effectively with drivers to assign loads, provide directions, and ensure timely deliveries.
• Customer Service: Act as the primary point of contact for drivers and customers, addressing concerns and ensuring exceptional service.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all dispatches adhere to safety regulations and company policies, prioritizing accident prevention and cargo safety.
• Problem-Solving: Address unexpected challenges, such as delays or mechanical issues, by quickly finding solutions to keep operations running smoothly.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with drivers, mechanics, and other team members to achieve company goals and maintain a positive work environment.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate records of dispatches, driver logs, and truck utilization metrics.
• Route Optimization: Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and dispatch software to optimize transportation routes and schedules.
• Logistics Strategy: Implement strategies that optimize transportation planning, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data effectively.
• Proficiency in using phone systems and dispatch software; familiarity with AS400 is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
• Knowledge of logistics principles and practices is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.20 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
