Part-time (.6) speech pathologist to work in our k-8 Palermo Elementary School.
Speech & Language Pathologist position effective fall of 2024. Successful candidate will work with students with disabilities with language handicaps, articulation deficits, dysfluencies and voice disorders in order to help reduce or eliminate speech and hearing impediments that interfere with the individual student's ability to benefit from the district's educational program. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily :
- Administer screening tests and comprehensive diagnostic evaluations / assessments
- Develop individualized goals & Individualized Education Plans consistent with State / Federal Laws & Regulations
- Plan therapy & use appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniques to support the curriculum
- Experience working directly with students with developmental disabilities / autism spectrum disorder strongly preferred, as well as experience with Hearing Impairments
- Collect data on student performance & report upon quarterly progress for individual students
- Participate in IEP meetings
- Consult and work collaboratively with specialists and regular education teachers
- Demonstrate ability to implement a variety of models of therapy including individual and small group therapy, inclusive therapy and consultation
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the theory, principles and methods of speech pathology and their proper application in the educational environment
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment and to maintain effectiveness in a changing environment.
- Ability to maintain appropriate level of ethical behavior & diligently maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
