Position Title: School Nutrition Manager II
Location: Steep Falls Elementary School
Position: 5 hours per day (8:00am-1:00pm)
Wage Scale: $23.00 – $26.72 per hour based on experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen. Consult with the School Nutrition Director when questions arise.
2. Assist team with all aspects of operating and implementing the School Nutrition Program in your kitchen.
3. Follow and ensure adherence to established local, state, and federal regulations and requirements for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
4. Oversee Point-of-Sale (POS) operations; complete daily reports as required by the School Nutrition Director. Prepare daily / weekly cash deposits and maintain accurate records.
5. Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, and the community.
6. Work in conjunction with school personnel to provide appropriate meal options for students with documented food allergies and dietary restrictions.
7. Meet professional expectations of attendance, suitable attire, and positive support of the School Nutrition Program.
Training, Supervision, and Evaluation of Employees:
1. Plan kitchen schedule for efficient food production in line with USDA regulations.
2. Assign workloads fairly and evenly amongst staff.
3. Evaluate employees fairly and honestly. Provide documentation when needed for performance concerns.
4. Maintain a positive working environment.
Sanitation and Safety:
1. Maintain clean cooking, storage, and dining areas.
2. Follow all state sanitation regulations and assume responsibility for the security of food and supplies.
3. Report accidents and equipment malfunctions to the School Nutrition Office immediately. Complete all necessary paperwork.
Food Production and Service:
1. Forecast accurate amounts of food to prepare.
2. Supervise food preparation, ensuring daily menus are being followed and use of accurate measurements and standardized recipes.
3. Use batch cooking techniques and monitor the consistency of food quality.
4. Serve students efficiently and foster a friendly atmosphere.
5. Monitor food temperatures on serving lines so cold foods are served cold and hot foods are served hot.
6. Complete all production records for breakfast and lunch accurately.
7. Maintain and increase student participation, staff productivity, and marketing and promotion of the program.
Food Orders, Deliveries, and Inventory:
1. Provide prompt and accurate food orders to the School Nutrition Office.
2. Maintain neat and adequate inventory and paperwork.
3. Supervise the check-in of deliveries.
Professional Development:
1. Participate in trainings, meetings, and food shows as needed.
2. Attending all Manager’s Meetings and (3) professional development days per school year is required.
3. Must complete 10 hours of Professional Development each school year.
Qualifications:
1. Education: High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Experience: Prior successful School Nutrition and management experience is preferred.
3. Current ServSafe certification is required, or must have the ability to become certified within 30 calendar days of starting date.
4. Current CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) is required if offered the position (prior to start date).
5. Physical Requirements: Evidence of ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds (ask for assistance for 25 pounds),stand for periods of time as long as 6 hours on a cement/tile kitchen floor, work in a potentially hot and humid environment.
6. Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of necessary applications.
