As long-term sub for an ESOL Teacher, you will deliver measurable results in designing, providing, and coordinating appropriate educational services for multilingual learners.
Reports to: Special Services Director and Assistant Director of Special Services
Qualifications: Love what you do, the opportunity this position presents including collaborating with others to support the success of the district’s multilingual learners. Proven professional with enthusiasm, passion, and demonstrated track record of success working with school-age English language learners. The valid State of Maine Teaching Certificate Endorsement in English for Speakers of Other Languages is required. Must possess Maine Department of Education’s Criminal History Records Check (CHRC). Effective communication skills are required to consult with the general education staff and work with families.
Additional requirements include: Bachelor’s degree or higher; valid Maine teaching certification or eligibility for the endorsement required; subject matter expertise; knowledge of effective teaching practices; comfort with standards-based curriculum; ability to design differentiated lessons that meet the educational needs of all students; and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Prior evidence of strong results on measures of student learning outcomes in relevant subjects strongly preferred. Our ideal candidate will be a strong instructional leader with both pedagogical knowledge and classroom experience, but we welcome candidates with a wide variety of backgrounds and years of experience. National Board Certification, a plus.
