RSW Consultants is an MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) engineering firm who has been in business for over 35 years. Located in San Antonio, they do MEP design for commercial buildings, restaurants, and retail establishments. Purposely small - they don't even need a website - their impeccable work and client loyalty have generated a steady stream of business based on satisfied repeat customers and referrals.
They are looking to add an additional MEP draftsman to their team. This person will be responsible for creating detailed plans for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a building project using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This position only requires 2D AutoCAD proficiency. RSW Consultants will provide on-the-job training for MEP-specific drawings.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop MEP drawings: Generate comprehensive 2D drawings for HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), electrical wiring, and plumbing layouts
- Coordinate with other disciplines: Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other trades to ensure proper integration of MEP systems within the overall building design
- Perform calculations: Calculate load requirements for HVAC systems, electrical power needs, and plumbing water flow to determine appropriate equipment and pipe sizes
- Prepare detailed specifications: Document material specifications, equipment details, and installation procedures for MEP systems on drawings
- Maintain drawing accuracy: Ensure consistency and accuracy of drawings by adhering to project standards, codes, and quality-control procedures
- Utilize CAD software: Proficiency in industry-standard AutoCAD software to create and modify drawings
Required skills:
- Technical knowledge: Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including principles of design, installation, and operation a plus but not required
- CAD proficiency: Proficiency using AutoCAD software to create detailed drawings
- Attention to detail: Ability to accurately interpret design specifications and translate them into precise drawings
- Problem-solving skills: Identify and resolve design challenges and coordination issues between different trades
- Communication skills: Effectively communicate design concepts and technical details to engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Building codes compliance: Knowledge of relevant building codes and regulations related to MEP systems a plus but not required
Education and experience:
- High school diploma
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
Position:

- Mon - Thurs 8- 4/4:30 pm
- Fri 8am-noon
- 1-1/2 hours for lunch break
